  • 1986: Training in Therapeutic Endoscopy with Prof. Nib Sohendra for 6 months in Hamburg University Hospital, Hamburg, West Germany.
  • 1989: Training in Oesophageal Surgery from Prof.Hiroshi Akiyama for 3 months in Toronomon Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. Fellowship of the International society for diseases of the esophagus (ISDE).
  • 1991: Training in Laparoscopic Surgery from Prof.Mohan Chellappa for 6 weeks in Singapore General Hospital, Singapore.

TEACHING & EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES :

Taken an active part in teaching medical and paramedical staff since 1980 in Grant Medical College as well as in Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences and Post Graduate Studies.

On the faculty of Johnson & Johnson Laparoscopic Training Institute, Mumbai.

  • Developed a new method of Abdominal Wall Lift, both portable and fixed, for the purpose of Gasless Laparoscopic Surgery in 1993.
  • Illustrated this method in Surgical Conferences and Workshops all over India.
  • Presented a video film on the same topic in the Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia Conference in Perth, Australia, October 1994.
  • Performed more than 3000 laparoscopic surgeries with this technique.
  • Given numerous lectures and conducted workshops on Therapeutic Endoscopy all over the country.
  • Attended laparoscopic surgery with Dr.Barry Salky, Mount Sinai Hospital, NewYork, 1997.
  • Attended Hepatobiliarypancreatic surgery with Dr. D.M.Nagorney, Mayo Clinic, 1997.
  • Attended work with Dr. Pervez Amid at Lichtenstein Hernia instititute, Los Angeles, USA, 1997.

  • Invited as faculty to the Hepato-pancreato-biliary Master Class in Oct 2006, organized by North Manchester general hospital and the north of England Gastroenterology society (NEGS)
  • Invited as faculty to the Hepato-pancreato-biliary Master Class in Oct 2007, organized by North Manchester general hospital and the north of England Gastroenterology society (NEGS) and delivered a lecture on "Management of Benign Biliary Strictures"
  • Delivered the AMASI Oration in Ludhiana in Dec 2008 “ Gazing Into the Crystal Ball : The future of M.A.S “
  • Organized AMASICON 2009, an international laparoscopic conference and live workshop in Mumbai attended by 1300 national and international delegates.
  • Organized AMASI Skill Course in May 2010 in Goa in which 120 candidates participated.
  • Appointed Professor of Surgery in Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences.
